Wizbii Further Reaches Out for Students

FACTS

  • The French start-up Wizbii –which mostly focuses on helping customers find internships and employment– enhances their range of services. Two new products are to be added: credit lines and health insurance offers for students.
  • Credit offers: This service, called “Pass Carrière” will launch in 2019. It will not apply to school fees but rather to students’ day-to-day expenses, including lodging or purchasing a car.
  • This full-digital service will provide customers with a cash reserve (with no spending obligation) to be paid back when the subscriber finds his first job.
  • Insurance: The health insurance offer will be proposed starting this fall.
  • These products are meant for customers from 18 to 30.

Wizbii: Key Figures

  • 2.7M members
  • 6,000 new members each day
  • Geographical presence: France, Spain, Italy, the UK and Germany

CHALLENGES

  • Meet students’ needs with especially crafted offers. According to this start-up, young customers are scared to subscribe credit lines and, when not, the available offers do not always match their needs. Wizbii also deems that medical fees are among the largest items of expenditure for students.
  • Regarding their credit lines, Wizbii stands out as they provide students with more flexibility, unlike traditional student loans only meant for affording tuition. They do not specify how their product will work, since the co-creation process is still underway with their community and several French banking institutions.
  • With these new offers, the platform for helping young customers through their career path features additional services intended to assist them with focusing on their studies.

MARKET PERSPECTIVE

  • By way of designing these offers, Wizbii relied on a €12.5 million funding round from Matmut Innovation, Swen Capital, Alliance Entreprendre and Oddo BHF.
  • In 2017 already, their scope was expanded when they acquired Filengo: a start-up launched in 2016 and helping students assess potential funding and grants they may be entitled to. Since launch, 30,000 young customers relied on this service.
  • Wizbii would be considering other moves to boost their external growth and make students’ lives easier.
