Ingenico POS Terminals Sales Figures Doubled in 2010

  • According to Ingenico, the volume of delivered NFC compatible contactless terminals doubled in 2010. They claim that more than 21% of the terminals sold to merchants include this technology considered particularly appropriate to small amounts and to reducing transaction time. With these solutions, the point of sale now centralises all means of payment and allows interoperability through the payment terminal.
  • Ingenico asserts its participation in a large number of pilot tests in most regions where it is present since 2004 certification of its first contactless terminal and presents its new range of Telium products integrating NFC ISO 18092 acceptance of mobile phones for couponing, customer loyalty and gift programs, etc.
  • According to Juniper Research, contactless payments could represent 81 billion euros in 2014, compared to 21 billion in 2012.
  • The world number two Ingenico is positioned on contactless solutions and develops more and more initiatives: purchase of Hypercom’s remaining assets in the United States, likely participation in Google-conducted test in the United States, partnership with Apple, etc. Ingenico also received GIE des Cartes Bancaires authorisation to deploy NFC payment in France and considers this event as decisive for this technology.
  • In Japan, NEC Corporation will also launch a mobile contactless payment terminal in July 2011. This terminal will accept a wide range of (contactless and traditional) payment solutions. It is compatible with FeliCa, ISO 14443 and NFC standards. Merchants can benefit from its mobile features and virtually accept all kinds of payments where and when conventional payment devices cannot be used.
